Arabic is a very deep and complex language. In Arabic, the words don’t have a single and simple meaning as it is in English, rather the word can contain a meaning that comprises of a whole story or a whole paragraph.

The general translation made of the word ‘Imaan’ is ‘faith’. Whenever, imaan is translated, mostly it is translated into faith. Therefore, if Imaan be translated into faith, then for a Muslim, the faith encompasses functions such as a source of providing security to a Muslim from all the attacks of satan and nafs. Faith must serve as a source of providing safety to a Muslim from the worries and woes of this life. And faith is what guarantees a Muslim that by following its commands a Muslim will enter Jannah.

 In short, whenever reading Quran with meaning or learning Arabic, a person needs to consult an Arabic expert who will tell about the etymology of the words in detail along with their meanings, as a result of which a person will be better able to understand the message of Quran.
